Previously on Game of Thrones – Tyrion’s plans for the masters has backfired, Dany has returned to her chums, Jon has gathered all the troops he can, Sansa has sent a letter off to someone, the Greyjoy’s are on there way to Dany and Ramsay has Rickon.
Dany, Tyrion and The Greyjoy’s
The masters are attacking Tyrion and Dany in Mereen and now have him and her outside the pyramid and are negotiating surrender with them. No I think this is pretty dumb as they know she has dragons and they know that the dragons can just F them up. So what happens? Awesome conversation then dragon F’s stuff up. One thing about this episode is that it is amazingly directed, better than most things I have seen. Just amazing! Miguel Sapochnik! Excellent work ma man! Every shot was almost perfect. The best thing was the other two dragons also got their time and we got some ace aerial shots along with them. Then the Greyjoy’s appear and had some decent banter with them. Flirting with Yara and Dany and the future for their houses united. Something I never expected but awesome all the same.
Jon, Sansa, Davos and Ramsay
Now to the sliced bread of the episode. Everything about this battle was perfect and it is one of the best battle I have ever seen. Not just in TV but in film also. It was brutal, bloody, well shot, well choreographed and realistic as hell. But before all that we got a scene with Davos finding the sight where Melisandre burnt Shireen and Davos was pissed but didn’t show it. Saving it for episode 10 I see. Sansa and Jon have a scene where she tries to convince Jon not to fight as they don’t have enough men. Before the battle begins Ramsay plays a game with Rickon and kills him. Little shit. Poor Rickon. Jon then has no choice (because of his position on the battlefield) to charge at Ramsay alone but when his horse is cut don he must make a stand. He does and it is all done in one shot without CGI to make th scene all that impactful. Then the battle takes place. Jon and his men are forced into a position where they cannot get out alive when the knights of the Vale turn up and F up Ramsays men who retreat into Winterfell. Wun Wun then breaks down the doors to Winterfell, giving his life doing so. Jon beats Ramsay to a pulp and Sansa feeds him to the dogs. THE END.
This is one of the best episodes we have ever had. The best? Maybe. I can’t really say how good this episode was. Emotional is the word that comes to mind as it makes you feel so many different things, not particularly sadness but excitement and all the emotions like that. So tense also. Shyyyt. This and ‘The Door’ are perfect episodes but for different reasons and in different ways which is why…
